Re: Is It Time For Another War? (Score: 1) by Jesse on Tuesday, September 10 @ 22:29:41 UTC (User Info | Send a Message)
And how many times have U.S. war planes bombed Iraqi targets, sometimes of doubtful military application? How many American airmen have been killed or injured in the incidents you mention? How many Iraqi soldiers have been killed or wounded in our counter attacks? How many Iraqi civilians?
I'm not defending Iraq, I'm defending reason. I dislike Hussain, and wouldn't shed a tear if an Iraqi rebel assainated him. He's a modern day shadow of Hitler. He attacks other Muslims because they belong to a differnt sect than him. He kills Iraqi citizens because they are of a different ethnicity. He needs to go. But are we the ones that should do it? Is now the best time to do it?
To my knowladge, Britain is the only other country that is supporting the idea of attacking Iraq. We would have no support from any other country in the Middle East, and might even draw them to the side of Hussain.
If we take out Hussain and his government now, it could turn an already unstable region into complete chaos. Isrealis and Palistinians are killing each other almost daily, Afganistan is still pretty unstable, and the Pakistani-Indian conflict is showing hints of heating up agian. It might be a good idea to wait util at least one of these issues cools down before destroying one of the more powerful countries in the region.
As for your coment that the Middle East must sink, I hope you realize that the Middle East is generaly considered to include all the contries on the Mediterainian coast of Africa from Morracco to Egypt, as well as Sudan, the Arabian Pennisula, and from Turkey to Pakistan and every thing in between. Basically all of the Muslim countries except Indonesia (I think that's the muslim country in S.E. Asia, might be Malyasia), and including Isreal. That's a lot of people to punish for one mans ego trip.
